My Full Notes From Apple’s Home “Experience” in NYC: The Wins, The Misses, and Some Intrigue
Hello everyone.
We will continue where we left off this past Tuesday by discussing Apple’s home "experience" that was held in NYC.
As this article was being written, it became clear pretty early on that there was quite a bit of material to cover. Accordingly, today's article is the equivalent of what would have been two, even three, updates.
My Full Notes From Apple’s Home “Experience” in NYC: The Wins, The Misses, and Some Intrigue
Apple’s Home “Experience” in NYC
Apple has been utilizing three different approaches for product unveilings:
Marquee events at Apple Park with a guest list comprised of employees, guests, and press / media. Steve Jobs Theater has a seating capacity of approximately 1,000. In many ways, product unveilings at Apple Park have become global events in terms of the influence and exposure that they receive. There is nothing like product unveilings at Apple Park in the tech industry.
Smaller, more intimate product “experiences” for ~100 (maybe a little bit higher) members of the press and media in one or more cities. In the days after the initial event takes place, Apple appears to invite additional press/media to take in the "experience."
Press releases.
The home experience Apple held this past Tuesday in NYC consisted of a few dozen (maybe 100) members of the press, media, analysts, and influencers getting time with the new and updated home devices. Instead of releasing a pre-taped presentation to the public, Apple gave a short presentation for those in attendance that went over what was being unveiled. There was an overall calm / relaxing vibe to the experience.
In addition to having a more traditional demo area for the new and updated home products, shown above, Apple also had a few mock rooms (a kitchen, bedroom, living room, and office) built for demonstrating HomeView, HomePod mini 2, Apple TV 4K, and select Apple Home Collection gadgets in action.
The personalized home spaces and rooms worked well for Apple. It would have been lackluster to just demo HomeView on a table as if it was a personal gadget. One of Apple’s goals was to show how its home devices, especially HomeView, can easily blend into rooms. The closer Apple can get to replicating these mock room setups in Apple stores, the easier the sales pitch for these devices will become.

Select third-party audio and video apps from iPhone will also be supported that will resemble CarPlay support. One can look at what is and isn't available on HomeView to reach assumptions on how
