We begin today’s update with my thoughts on Apple getting an antitrust lawsuit from Blix Inc., an email app maker, dismissed. The court’s opinion was interesting on a few levels as it pertains to Apple’s strength in defending against claims that the company is using the App Store to compete unfairly. The discussion then turns to Samsung and reports that the Galaxy Note may be discontinued. The device has quite the history in smartphone land. We conclude with a look at GM’s Nikola mistake and what it tells us about the current state of the auto market.

While our focus will be primarily on Apple, it’s difficult to isolate one company as the Subcommittee staff report ended up lumping the four into one bucket. The update kicks off with my overall thoughts on the report. The focus then turns to six major holes in the Subcommittee staff’s logic and rationale when it came to classifying Apple as a monopoly. We conclude with a look at Apple’s initial response to the report and what I think will be the next steps moving forward.
