Prior to launching Above Avalon in 2014, I spent seven years on Wall Street as a sell-side equity analyst. The job entailed modeling 15 property and casualty insurance companies, taking management teams around on investor roadshows, and monitoring the stock market all day, every day. Learning how to build companies, which ultimately led to my interest in Apple, and dissecting the ins and outs of what drives stock prices became my passions.

I started on Wall Street a few weeks before companies began having problems pricing some mortgage-linked financial instruments. This ended up being the early stages of what eventually led to the financial crisis of 2008 and early 2009. It was a great learning experience, and it plays a major role in how I look and react to the equity market today.

This past week has been a fascinating one to watch unfold from an AAPL and equity market perspective. Today’s update is going to go over some things that have been on my mind.
