Our game plan is to embrace the fluid nature of events related to coronavirus and cover the most important developments on a day-by-day basis. In some ways, daily updates are well-suited for covering this unprecedented event. There are two stories worth covering in the coming days and weeks: Apple navigating both the health crisis and the corresponding economic crisis. This will involve talking about everything from Apple store closures to management’s focus on near-term liquidity.

In today’s update, we go over my thoughts on Tim Cook’s most comprehensive public comments to date when it comes to Apple’s actions in response to coronavirus. The discussion then turns to Apple closing its stores outside of Greater China. We go over my estimate for the percentage of revenue that typically runs through Apple stores. The update concludes with Apple unveiling a new WWDC format due to coronavirus.
