Hello everyone. For today’s article, we will continue where we left off on Monday by going over my observations from Apple’s product event. Based on member feedback, there is interest in going deeper into how Apple’s pre-taped presentations surpass live on-stage performances. The game plan is to combine that discussion with my remaining event notes (mostly related to iPhone Duo and clues regarding future products) that aren’t addressed in today’s article.

iPhone 18 Pros, Apple Wearables, Audio Intelligence
iPhone 18 Pros
With Apple framing the iPhone as an intelligent personal hub, iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max HW components that stand to play a critical role in the intelligence era are being optimized.
Performance. The redesigned vapor chamber (second redesign in as many years) that benefits in part from having A20 Pro silicon being connected directly to it gives the iPhone 18 Pro a reported 40% gain in sustained performance compared to the iPhone 17 Pro – two times better than the iPhone 16 Pro. Such performance gains have a direct positive impact on on-device AI workflows.
Battery Life. Aided by A20 Pro silicon efficiencies and what Apple describes as “advanced system improvements and new battery designs,” the iPhone 18 Pro’s battery life is said to see another move higher from the 17 Pro. As each year and iPhone iteration passes, having enough battery life to get through the day becomes less of a concern.
Cameras. By continuing to run ahead with the latest and greatest iPhone cameras (variable aperture for iPhone 18 Pro), Apple isn’t just giving the “intelligent personal hub” better eyes to make sense of our surroundings, but the gap is also widening between iPhone cameras and cameras worn on the body via wearables.
Instead of leaning on the usual suspects for reasons to upgrade an iPhone – a faster processor, a better camera, more battery life - Apple Intelligence is providing Apple new ammunition for making the upgrading argument. An iPhone upgrade cycle averaging a little north of four years suggests a good percentage of iPhone users are using devices that won’t support Apple Intelligence and Siri AI.
